Tetanus does not prevent rabies

Management of dog bite has been done wrong in most health facilities in Ghana.

Victims of dog bite have been given only¬†Tetanus injections in the hospitals and clinics by “health professionals ” qualified and unqualified as treatment of dog bite.

This wrong practice has led to the death of many Ghanaians who believed they had received the needed care because they had visited the hospital.

Tetanus does not prevent rabies after a bite from a rabid dog.

Anti-rabies prophylaxis for humans is what is given to prevent Rabies.

Health professionals need training on the management of dog bite to prevent patients from getting rabies.
